Her apartment sparkled the way only a new building could, and she breathed in the smell of fresh paint and newly laid carpet. She had only been there a matter of hours yet she already knew that this was her home. Here she was happy, contented. Here she felt like she could spend many years of her live. The freshly cleaned window glimmered at her, showing pictures of a park she had yet to discover. She smiled as she looked down at the road beneath her and watched the people walking by, carrying out daily activities, chores, strolling alongside loved ones. Two weeks previously:
She was sat in the reception area of the studio, holding her portfolio close to her chest, keeping her eyes open and focused on a spot on the wall ahead. ‘One, in, two, out, three, in, four, out,’ the breathing exercises were only just containing her emotions from exploding out of her. The mix of nerves, excitement and sheer determination were driving her to the edge, yet she didn’t want to let this feeling go. It was exhilarating, she could almost feel the adrenaline racing through every vein in her body, and she loved it.

She had never wanted to hurt him, never wanted to see him stare at her in disbelieve as she told him it was over, but she didn’t feel like she had any other choice.
